Unless you only have 1GB of RAM.

But then again, it'd probably be a better idea to get 1 more GB of RAM since it's so cheap nowadays and it will yield better results than "Turbo Memory."

i have 4gigs of memory and noticed a speed boost (mostly while booting the laptop up) after i installed the turbo memory. Well worth the 30 bucks IMO.

Interesting. I'm gonna have to run a performance log and try this one myself.

I second this. I also noticed a startup speed boost. Well worth it.

some people have noticed a speed deficit when using with 4GB of memory. try removing the pagefile.

Is it easy to install the turbo memory yourself? I'm planning on upgrading my regular RAM to 4GB, but ... now I'm curious about this. :p

It's really easy and your boot time will also be reduced.

Really easy to install on the m1730. Just remove the keyboard and insert the card.

If you aren't familiar with disassembly of your lappie, reference the user/service manual for your model @ support.dell.com.

Word to the wise: Don't do it! It is by far more beneficial to just have 4 gig of ram. I service many dell laptops for my community and I have noticed that that the turbo memory when combined with the ACHI drivers run much slower than the regular sata mode.

I can't comment on the speed increase but I did find that it increased my battery life in Vista. After I upgraded to Vista SP1 though, I've had issues where my HD would spin down and not spin up. I ended up disabling turbo memory :(.
