I recently purchased the 1647 i-5 420 and I like it for the most part. One of the reasons why I bought it was to play WoW when I am not at my desktop. It runs WoW just fine at good frame rates. However, the fan can get extremely loud, almost to the point where it's deafening. Is this typical with laptops in general when playing games? Would other models exhibit less fan noise? I was going to get the Alienware M15x, but went this the XPS because I got a really good price on it and the graphics card seems sufficient to play WoW.

I also am wondering if a notebook cooler would help the computer not rev its fan up so much. It gets to the point where I have to quit playing the game just because the fan is just too loud.
