Okay, I know this is fishing in a pretty empty pond but here goes....

I just installed the RC of Windows 7 on my 1530 which is a machine I basically use only on trips (business primarily) or once in a great while at home for something specific.

Anyway, I had such a bad time with Vista on it that I installed Ubuntu and that was fine for a while but had its own issues (including with the touchpad).

I just installed Windows 7 and the default setup had the touchpad working but no scrolling.

I then found an Alps app that looked REALLY encouraging as it had more features than I'd ever had with this setup but after a few minutes of use the system would nearly lock as the pad would generate random key entries and I'd be LUCKY if I could get out with a clean reboot. Once I did this there was no return and I now have to do a clean re-install as I can't even get the original state back (should have made a restore point).

Anyway, now that I'm going to do that (kind of want to anyway to format the partition and fully kill Vista) has anyone found a solution to getting a working driver under Windows 7 that has scrolling?

I'll have to update as I installed the first one and it's working GREAT but newer often is better so I'll grab it too. First time I've been able to circle-scroll with this machine.

I'm also liking Windows 7 so far and I'm shocked. Haven't tried much in the way of games yet though and there I don't expect much.

Haha, don't feel bad about being late to the circle-scrolling bandwagon. For months, I had the latest Alps touchpad driver software for the Studio 1535, straight from Dell's support page. However, it was very limited in features; it only allowed vertical scrolling. No horizontal or circular scrolling, nor zoom.

Turns out the newer version with those features was available on the Studio 1537's download page the whole time. I've been using it since I discovered this a couple weeks ago. It's a shame that Dell can't be bothered to update drivers between different models of the same computer. The exact same thing happened with the ATi 3450 graphics driver. The one on my 1535 page was way older than the one from the 1537 page, despite being cross-compatible.
