    Hey...
I'm just preparing to upgrade from vista ultimate 32 to 64 bit i have been through the forums and read up a bit and just wanted to check a few details.
I have downloaded all the drivers from a thread (can't find it again at the minute) to an external hard drive, and i got a 64bit install dvd with sp1 from dell. Is there anything i need burnt to dvd/cd for use during the install process or can i install all the updated drivers once vista is installed?
    Cheers in advance.
    Dave

I just finished a 64-bit install on my M1530, and I used the drivers from the thread you mentioned. No problems.

I did load the ACHI driver during the install. There seems some confusion as to whether that's required, but I did it anyway and it went fine. I burned all of the drivers to CD as opposed to leaving them on an external USB drive. I didn't want to take the chance that the USB ports might not be recognized without the chipset drivers...which would of course be on an external USB drive. Probably an unnecessary step, but I did it anyway.

    Smooth install. Go for it.
