I bought my wife a brand new 1330 for Valentines day and got a great deal. I like the XPS line and thought I would give the 1530 a try for myself. While I like the size, for my needs it is a bit heavy. Which got me looking at a new 1330 for me, however I could not even come close to what I paid for the wifes 1330 back in Feb. Even with the current 20% off $1299 coupon $ I still couldn't come close on a new 1330 for what I paid back in Feb. $400 more now than back in Feb.

Which got me to looking at the Outlet for a new 1330. I found some good pricing on certified units that fit my budget.

Does anyone have real time experience with the XPS line purchased from the Outlet? Scratches, bad units, defective parts etc?

i bought a m1530 from there fully loaded.... it had everything i was building on a brand new one and it was still about 600-700 dollars cheaper. it works fine, no scratches or anything, it looked pretty much new except the refurb sticker on the bottom.

reality is, ur paying a 600-700 dollar premium for a brand new laptop... only difference is it maybe new and no ones touched it. i think savings 600 bucks is worth a few strangers playing with my laptop.

I got an M1330 from the outlet. It came with a broken screen, a missing screw, and a cracked bottom panel (the one that covers the CPU/GPU). Dell replaced the parts no questions, as offered to schedule a tech to come to my house to fix it. I opted to have the parts sent to me to repair myself.

Would I buy from the outlet again? No, probably not. Do I regret doing it once? Not at all.

EDIT: Actually they never sent me that screw, but it's not a big deal, I was able to get one from work.

i just bought one from the outlet. a scratch on the cover and slightly used i guess but that's about it. i saved at least $300 buying from the outlet considering there are no good coupons out right now and my configuration is the same that is offered on the brand new 1330's out right now so i was able to compare the pricing. get one with the led screen.

overall, i'm very happy with my laptop. i was expecting some falling apart dropped and crushed lappy with a cracked screen and 50 dead megapixels after reading all of the threads on this website.
