hello there, I have a strange problem with my battery. I got my m1330 used with 1 light of battery health lit. I've been using it fairly for a month. One time I noticed I got only about 1 hour on battery power. I checked again and there were 2 lights of used battery health. The next few charges and I have 5 lights of battery health and notification in Dell Battery Meter on PC to replace this battery. Now I can barely watch a 45 minutes series episode. Can I request a replacement from Dell ? I have a NBD warranty but the lappy is about 1 year and 3 months... but maybe it's AC adapter failure that caused the battery to fail? Did anyone met such a thing?

I don't know... i'm having serious problems with this notebook. It was very slow because got really hot until I upgraded it to A15 where it somehow works... What should be done for me to request a replacement?

Batteries have a 1 year warranty on them regardless of the warranty on the rest of the laptop. If its over 1 year old then your only option is to purchase a battery yourself.

One press on the button shows its charge level. I have a 9 cell battery that will show 5 lights when fully charged but will only last 45min so its not a good test of longevity.

Its your battery thats the problem, not the a/c adapter, or anything else, and its probably a 100% bet to replace it if the Dell Battery meter tells you its bad, even on my batteries that don't work that well anymore, I've never seen it tell me to replace the battery.

when you press the battery button once, it'll give you info about it's current charge level... more lights = better

when you press and HOLD the button for >5 seconds, the lights that come on, each represent 10% of wear level... (i think, not exactly sure how much % each light represents).... more lights here = bad

yeah I know that. Of course I was speaking about HOLDING the button on the battery meter, so that it shows me my battery health. And this shows me 5 lights of usage so according to manual - it has < 50% left.
Is this normal? I know that batteries perform worse in time but this one came from about 85% to barely 50% in one week! Where it performed normally before! Is this irony, it is maybe a month or two when my m1330 had its first birthday... shame the battery hadn't failed earlier.

When a battery is on its way out, it can end up going very quickly. Sounds like yours may be more than the basic problem of batteries losing charge over their life if yours dropped that much in a week AND you have the Dell battery meter telling you the battery needs to be replaced.

Yes I also don't think it's normal. I'll call Dell rep tomorrow ... but I don't count on too much because the battery warranty is over. Shame...

Your best bet is to try to tell them its been a problem for awhile but you are just getting around to contacting them, then MAYBE you can get a friendly rep to help out. Hope that helps.
