Got my XPS M1530, and am seeing a few small quality control issues...heres an interesting one of the keyboard:

See these little metal things showing...they are all around the keyboard...normal or not? It doesn't bother me all that much, but it does seem to be one of those little issues you get with Dell. They keyboard seems to work fine btw.

So you see what I mean eh?

Anyone ever seen this? Seems like the keyboard isn't placed in it perfectly.

I think it's normal. Looks like that on my M1330 as well. Other people have complained about the same thing. It is the design, not a manufacturing defect.

Yeah I'm not gonna send it back for that reason...but it really is not something that should be in a $1500 laptop.

In mine too. I have taken out the keyboard twice (not to fix this, but for some other reasons) and in my experience thats as far as it goes underneath the palmrest.

Ya it probably is normal. I'll have to see if my dad's 1720 is the same way. Of course that is a different model so who knows. I may eventually try to reseat the keyboard, but I'm not gonna go disassembling this thing just yet.

You might wanna check if your keyboard is uneven. Dell might have put the wrong length screw like on this thread. It nearly drilled through the keyboard.

That is actually normal. The lip aids in keeping liquids contained in the event of a spill.

It is normal. Stop being so picky.
Its just the edges of the keyboard, with some parts that stick out to keep it in place.
Would you prefer the keyboard be glued into place with no edges seen??

Seriously, I work with hundreds of Dell laptops, and every make and model is the same. Its not a defect.
