    Hey guys,

I'm installing Windows 8 Pro onto the system in my signature.

It's from the .iso, using both Windows 7 install tool and PenDriveLinux tool. (I don't think unetbootin would matter here)

It the install, I put in my product key, select x64, do a custom install, delete all partitions from my primary disk, and then let the install start.

It basically skips over Copying files. Not sure if this matters.

It will prepare installation files to 100%

It will then move to install features and install updates, but will skip right over them. The system will reboot and since there's obviously nothing on the drive, I'm just getting the blinking cursor.

What do y'all think is going on? (This iso has successfully installed on two other systems)

    Thanks!

I still haven't found a solution. Total pain in the butt. I even called Dell and they told me to call Microsoft. Obviously, I didn't call Microsoft lol.

Anyone else have any suggestions? Mostly for sadaniel, my XPS 17 is being warrantied out for an M17x

random thought ... burn the ISO to a bootable CD/DVD, boot machine from that to do the install. Maybe something hokey going on with either the USB stick itself or the system reading from the stick during installation. I've no real theory for why, it's just a thought.

Try using the USB 2.0 port.
