Throttlestop Questions

Where do I ask about Throttlestop on my new GE76 i7-11800H? I've read through the guides, but I'm a little confused about the difference between the MSR and MMIO power limits that are showing. I've got the unlocked MSI BIOS with what I believe is open to allow me to modify these settings through throttlestop, but I see lock icons next to those numbers. Does this mean I should just go ahead and try to change the PL1 and PL2 numbers through my BIOS instead? I think @unclewebb gets on here but all the searches I did brought up the techpowerup.com site. I know he made some recent changes so it may be something specific to 11th gen. I have the RTX 3080 and I got 13,550 on Timespy which I think is good and I'd just like to see what I can do on this thing. Sorry if this post is in the wrong place, it said Software. Thanks!

In Google I typed,

If a power limit shows that it is locked, you cannot change it in ThrottleStop. If you did not lock it then maybe the BIOS has locked it. A power limit can only be changed in the BIOS if the BIOS has not locked it.

Head to the main ThrottleStop thread and post some ThrottleStop pictures. The 11800H is a fantastic CPU when installed in a good chassis. I am sure lots of users that check out the ThrottleStop Guide would like to know more about it. MSI seems to be one of the very few companies catering to enthusiasts. They include hidden BIOS options so users can get the most out of their new 11800H.

 

Sorry I'm on my phone using the Tapatalk app and I searched Throttlestop and it just brings up posts where that word shows up. When the forum said Chrome OS and Software I just thought it meant general software as I didn't see another forum that made anymore sense. I'll take a look where you mentioned. It looks pretty straight forward in the advanced MSI BIOS to set the PL1 and PL2 limits and I could also mess with IMON Slope if I really needed too. Thanks for your help. I imagine you have plenty of people you work with on new CPUs but if you need any info or testing things let me know. I managed a 14000 Timespy score which, from what I can tell, is pretty near the top end for an 11800H with a RTX 3080 mobile.

Just wanted to revisit this and say thank you for your latest update which directly addressed my original post. Having the MSR and MMIO sync provides just one less reason I have to go into BIOS to mess with anything and instead its done right through Throttlestop. Thank you!

 

It is rare for anyone to need a duplicate set of power limits. Best to use the MMIO Lock option. This locks and disables the MMIO limits.
