I would like to try out the Beta and Developer version of Chrome OS.
But right now I have it setup just the way I like (programs, notification, icon location, resolution, power setting etc).
If I revert from the other channels back to the stable, how much of it would I need to setup again? Is it like I never left or is it like resetting a android phone were it just tosses the apps wherever and you need to set it up again.

When you revert back to the stable channel I believe you have to do a powerwash which wipes the chromebook. You can specify what settings you want to sync in settings and after the reset they will come back. Check settings and also check https://myaccount.google.com/dashboard.
I did a powerwash a while back and after reboot (and reconnect to wifi), all my settings, bookmarks, extentions, layout and even installed android apps came right back to where the were. hth. -
After seeing your response I decided to give it a go.
I ended up reverting back to the stable. It remembered everything except the screen resolution, all my apps were pined back where they were supposed to be. -
Everything is nicely backed up at Google servers.
I enjoy being on the developer channel, instead of the beta and stable as you are at the forefront of new flags that work, canary is too unstable.
