I have an old logitech c600 webcam that still works great. I have a windows pc where i do everything on and a chromebook for web browsing... in case i get virus or anything i use the chromebook.

I read you could use old webcams as security camera. But if i do this, computer needs to be on always right since you connect it to a usb port in the computer? Now i dont want my laptop windows to be on all the time. Chromebook im fine with. Anyone know if i could use my logitech c600 as a webcam paired with my acer chromebook? If so, could i then view everything on my iphone etc? I was going to buy a webcam but then i read online that you could even use an old phone with camera and use a program like presense or alfred to use as security camera.
