Some recent Chromebooks are fitted with eMMC flash drives (thus non-upgradeable) so yours has some upgrade potential. Could make a nice lightweight Linux laptop with very long battery life if you wanna ditch Chrome OS in the future, modded firmware should be available for your model. I did that on my Samsung XE550C22 and never turned back.
But as a normal Chromebook, it'll serve you well too.
Such as shame it can't run Windows given its rather good hardware...jaug1337 likes this. -
Agreed: I plan to dual boot linux (probably gallium), as soon as I get some free time.
Disagreed: why would I want to install windows and ruin a good chromebook. -

And for the Windows, well it's just my opinion, but there are just a number of important softwares that are not available in Linux, a good example being M$ Office. Yeah you have LibreOffice and OpenOffice in Linux, but unless they manage to fix the formatting issue with M$ Office so I don't work on my documents overnight only to find they don't show properly in M$ Office, I won't consider them true replacements, not when the majority of campus PCs and corporates use it. Me being a longtime Windows user doesn't help.Primes likes this. -
I just bought the Lenovo Chromebook N22-20, just for uni use mostly offline, and to upload online with Google Docs.
Looking forward to maximizing battery life when writing long academic papers on the go.
The specs are as following: (product # 80SF001SNC)
- Intel Celeron N3160 / 1.6 GHz (Quad Core)
- 4 GB 1600 MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
- 32 GB eMMC SSD (no upgrade for moi..)
- 11.6" monitor w/ 1366 x 768 (HD, 16:9)
- As you might have guessed, Intel HD 4000 as GPU
- 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 (which is nice)
- Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 - M.2 Card (connects to fastest WiFi (I have several))
- Reviews quote the battery life between 8-12 hours (which is great, I might hit 12 as I am a offline person)
- 2 USB 3.0 + 1 HDMI and combo input for mic/headphones + SD/SDHC etc. reader
- Weight: 1.2 kg
Bought it for ~240€ or ~240$ - which seems like the average price (even tho it was on sale)Primes likes this. - Intel Celeron N3160 / 1.6 GHz (Quad Core)
