    Hello,

Great forum. I have a few questions about the z63a.
1.) Can I purchase a bluetooth module for the z63a?
2.) Has anyone used a slot loading optical drive on the z63a?
3.) Are there any recommended resellers for the z63a

    Thanks

    Hihi :)

I'll try to answer this as best as I can.

    1) It has been tried that the Z70va BT unit fits into the Z63a fine, but I'm not 100% if its stable and works fine. Also you'll need to ask the reseller if they even do this.

    2) It works but there will not be a faceplate for it, unless you modify it yourself, by making your own. Or leave a blank space for it.

    3) Check the FAQ for a full list, but recommended resellers are PROPortable, Geared2Play, c9tech and another which I have unfortunately forgotten at the momment

    Hope this helps

Ditto. Doesn't the W3A have bluetooth? Anyway, yes, I think C9Tech will add the bluetooth.

Also, ISTNC is a great reseller.

You can purchase a bluetooth module only through select resellers, I believe. (Geared2Play being one of them).

I would recommend ProPortable, Geared2Play, C9Tech, or ISTNC.

Cheaper..... no........ will you save a few bucks, probably..... is it worth it, probably not.

If you want to learn how to build it and have the satisfaction of knowing you built it - great...... but any problem is simply yours to fix and that's basically the problem.

One thing you're guarenteed if you purchase it built-to-order...... it's going to be tested and is going to perform as you'd expect right out of the box. If you have any problems with it, you're going to be covered under whatever warranty you get.

They both have their advantages, but you really want to keep price out of the equation because you could save a bit but at the same time... I've seen some people end up spending more money... plus their time to build it...

Yeah, I have heard you save about $100 - but is a couple hours of your time, no dealer warranty, and the risk of screwing it up worth it? To some it is. You just have to decide...

You can always have the store make it for you.

Then further down the road when you get the itch to upgrade (and the money), ram, hdd or proc.. you can open it up yourself and give it a go...

You need to discuss the warranty issue with the intended store b4 you buy all those parts. You can buy the parts and then go to the store buy the Z63a barebone. They will put the parts inside for you. Some may charge as it will be 30 minutes' to one hour's job for them. For the bluetooth, its not a standard item universally adaptable to other laptops, you buy the bluetooth from them, they will put it in for you.

.... any "store" that doesn't charge you an arm and leg to "assemble" parts that you bring them would be absolutely dumb. They would assume that you're too cheap to just have them build you out a system, so they're not going to cut you a break to do that...... nor would they want to warranty the work because if they did - what's the difference between that and if you bought a "system" from them?

Warranty is always the biggest issue and thats why I advised to discuss with the store 1st b4 buying any parts and the barebone.

If warranty is not an issue, I know there are stores will put them together for you at a premium price.

... I wouldn't go that far. If they're cheap, they're cheap....... if they want to built it themselves, then that's what they want to do....

.... but I'd hardly call prices of companies that build these systems to order, a "premium".
