x600 vs x700

I am not someone who is too familar with benchmarks and stuff but i was just wondering if there is a big visual difference between 128 x600 and 128 x700

 

Although the model numbers are very close... the performance gain by the x700 is quite large. The x600 is a PCI-e version of the Radeon 9700... whereas the x700 may outperform a Radeon 9800.
I don't have benchmark numbers, but I'm sure many people can verify this...

With the x700, you'll be able to play games with higher settings...so yes, visually and performance wise, you'll see a difference.

 

Yes, very. I believe the x700 is a little more than double the power of the x600. I had the Z70V and the games were still great to play with medium to high levels. But when the Z70VA came out, I was able to play everything at maximum levels.

 

The x600 is about 1.5x slower then the x700...

In 3dMark05, x700 will get 2500~ or so, while the x600 will get 1650~ or so

As for visual difference, I'm pretty sure for game slike BF2, the x600 will need to decrease on the AA and the resolution while a x700 will probrably max it all out

edit: My hands are so cold - I blame that for my uber slow typing..

 

x600 is more like ~1300. The x700 is 2-2.5x faster than the x600.. i'd say that's a BIG DIFFERENCE!

What kind of 9800? I've got a 256MB 9800XT in my desktop and I get 3200 points stock.

The PCI Express version of the Mobility Radeon 9700, for modern notebooks. It is in some cases slower, in some cases faster, than the 9700, but is essentially comparable. For what it's worth, I've used a 64MB 9600 and a 128MB X600, and found the performance jump to be slight. Notable, but slight.

The X700 is mainstream on desktops, but its performance is nearly comparable to the Mobility Radeon 9800. It is only marginally slower, but is still a very impressive performer and is one of the most ideal GPUs on 15.4" notebooks. Its performance is comparable to a desktop Radeon X700 Pro.

hi, x700 should be faster than x600 according to 3Dmark's score. I have just read the comparison of pcmark and 3dmark which Canadasys make it recently. It is very helpful for reference.

hehe, interesting indeed. I was wondering, do any one of you have F.E.A.R? Maybe you can test out the game and see how well it does on both cards.

Performance wise, YES, as everyone has indicated the x700 is much faster than the x600, but visually they should look the same in games.

Before you guys jump on me, hahaha, that is the IQ (Image Quality), will be the same without enabling AA/AF, and so on, since the x600 won't be able to enable these without big fps drops, unlike the x700, which can handle AA/AF much better than the x600 because of it's POWER.

Simple as that, don't have to get into the specifics of it, since the person asking the question seems to be a novice in videocards.

Either way you'll be happy with both videocards, since not everyone is playing the latest, greatest games on their laptops. I still prefer playing the latest greatest games on my desktop =D
