I'm debating whether to upgrade or not. I currently have the Vista Business edition that came with my U6.

    Concerns:
upgrade would slow down the computer
    affect performance negatively

    Pros:
    $30 deal for students

Just do a clean install if you're worried about slowing your computer down.

If anything, Windows 7 will make your system faster than Vista. It's one of the main selling points.

I have switched from Vista to Windows 7 on my one year old M50Vm, and I can says it is faster than the Vista.
For me it also more stable than the vista so far.

I would also recommend a clean install rather than an upgrade.

I am very excited to get Windows 7. Hopefully Asus will send it within a week. Or i might just run and get the $30 one.

I wouldn't want to do an upgrade. I'm one of those IT guys that are anti-OS upgraders. I only believe in full installs.

Just waiting for my Win7 Ultimate 64bit OEM copy to come in for my install on my G50VT-X5.

I'll be upgrading to Windows 7 on my laptop. I've already been running it on a second partition. I like it better than Vista.

Win 7 is pretty robust with drivers and it will update to most of the new ones within the first few hours if you want it to. I was using RC1 on my G2S and now I use RTM X64 on My G71g since they were released. I am definatly sold on Win 7.

Well I purchased a copy of Win 7 64 Pro during the pre-sale which seems like it was years ago. I will be replacing the Vista install with Win 7 Pro but that doesn't mean I'll be getting rid of Windows XP Pro just yet.

I am currently running Win7 64 RC, Vista 64 Home Prem. and XP Pro. Once I got my copy of Win7 it will drop to Win7 & XP Pro until I can prove to myself that Win 7 can indeed run all my programs in XP mode.

Definitely taking advantage of the free Win7 upgrade offer by ASUS and switching over from Vista to Win 7 on my ASUS G51Vx. Everything seems to point to Win7 being superior to Vista. I'm going to switch over my new HP Mini 311 to Win7 and my Dell XPS desktop to Win7 while keeping my older computers on Win XP SP3. Hmm.. I wonder if I should upgrade the wife's MacBook Pro to that new Snow Leopard?

With the ASUS upgrade to Win7, is it still possible to do a clean install?

search vista full install with an upgrade disc, see if the steps work for win7. I do full installs with a vista upgrayedd disk.
