I'm the proud owner of an Asus A6Ja, and in general I'm extremely happy with it. There's just one little thing that's starting to annoy me. I have it set to go into Hibernate mode when I close the lid, so instead of shutting down when I'm finished with it, I just close the lid. However, after a certain number of times without a complete shutdown, the machine does not go into hibernate mode and just carries on running. When I check the power options in control panel, the setting for what to do upon closing the lid has changed to Standby, and the Hibernate tab has dissapeared. I can solve this problem by doing a restart, but after a while it happens again.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,

    Ryan.

Ryan, do you also get a warning about system resources not available (or something along those lines) when trying to hibernate?

It's just what my computer does at times. Unfortunately i don't have an answer for you, let's hope someone else has found a solution.

You need to apply the microsoft patch. Just do a google for "Microsoft Windows XP hibernation trouble" (maybe problems, i don't remember) and click on the links to the Microsoft Support page. Read their description, if they sound applicable, apply those patches. If you have trouble, post back and I can email the download to you directly.

P.S. - I know what hibernation problems are like, I had trouble for weeks with my computer, and now it works great - I don't have to worry about it running full power in my backpack - hopefully we can solve your trouble as well.
