I have decided that the W3J is a better computer than the A8js for me - mostly in terms of durability.

Do any owners have any comments about this system?

How is it working for you?

    Any problems?

    Heat?

    Screen?

Gaming ability? Looking to play FEAR, C&C3

Any other comments are appreciated... or other suggestions for a durable, powerful laptop at around 1500.

It's an awsome laptop but has reached EOL [end of line - it's no longer produced] - Very well built.

As good as it can :)

    Heat,Heat,Heat

You can never put it on your lap. It's very hot and has poor cooling IMO.

Usually @ 1024x768 - not the highest for 14".I'm satisfied with it though.

It has an X1600, so it can play them (not maxxed out though)

It does run hot, even more when gaming, but you dont feel it on your palmrest or keyboard, you have to put your hand on the air vent or at the bottom to notice it. The resolution could be a little better. But the quality and looks made me pick it over the A8Js. Good luck on finding one if ur still interested.

My mate also does the same uni subject as me has the A8Js. Similar features, speed, and likeness, but one thing seperates mine from his - Build Quality. Many of my other mates comment on how professional my one looks compared to his, and doesnt look plasticky. He's one got some light scratches on the plastic lid, mine hasnt, even though I had mine before his, a good 4 months. Another good thing is the swappable optical drive/bay!

I have owned the HP Pavilion DV5000t, and Sony FE38GP. So far my W3J exceeds the other 2 in terms of quality and performance.

Had no problems installing Vista, didnt need to apply BIOS F11. Dont have that Standby problem that people get.

Fan constanly spins, even though its on idle.

Oh yes, get very hot at the bottom, espcially near the HDD. DO NOT PUT THIS NOTEBOOK NEAR YOU BALLS!!!

Better than the Sony FE38GP, equal to DV5000t. As long as there isnt any dead pixels, stuck pixels and bleeding/backlight issues, I am happy, and this is what the W3J Screen offers.

Would have been nice if it had better battery life, like more than 3 hours, and lighter.
