I noticed over the last week or so that when I set the mode to high performance there is a quiet high pitched noise along with a soft "crunching" sound like a hard drive on my new u36sd. My hard drive is an SSD so it isn't that, so I believe it is either the CPU fan or the GPU fan. I just want to know if this is normal and if it is I will just live with it. Turning it down to entertainment mode actually makes most of it go away but listening close the "crunching" sounds happens quickly every 10 seconds or sometimes even less frequently than that. I'm assuming the u36jc could be the same thing. Anyone else have this?

I haven't seen that as a common issue yet, but in smaller machines you might run into something of that nature. I suspect it's a fan either clipping against something or it's a faulty fan itself. Have you contacted your reseller to have them take a look at it?

Yeah it could be a fan with a bad bearing or just not enough lubrication, on the way to wearing out a bearing.

It's probably an easy fix but you are going to need to send 'er in if that's the case. :/
