im considering getting a z70va, but id prefer a glossy display, my question is on the main page theys a company that will install a polorized filter on the existing screen to make it glossy.
would my computer still be covered? maybe not a broken screen but overall the comp itself would a reseller such as c9, pro, g2p still service my laptop if it had issues?

I think that's a fairly easy question if I understand you correctly.......... You're looking to put one of those 3M filters on the screen...... and answer would be of course it would still be under warranty. If the screen stopped working it wouldn't be because of that....... heat doesn't need to dissipate through the front of the screen or anything... so all you're really doing is putting a protective layer over it.
.... very good question though.... at least you asked about it before hand.. -
I think hes talking about sending his notebook away to that company that adds that UV layer thing to the front screen. so someone would be taking the LCD out of the notebook. so when he got the notebook back would the rest of the hardware be covered since someone else dismanteled the LCD?

yea like srd said its more than the 3m filter someone is taking out the lcd

Well, lets put it this way - I believe you're going to have to lose the warranty on your lcd because someone would have to take apart the screen, other than your dealer...... but as long as they don't go tooling around with the system itself, you'll be fine on the rest of the system.
I'd like to know exactly what they're adding to the screen though. If it discolors, it's basically bonded to the screen which isn't good. How much does that cost? -
I think ceiph is talking about what abaxter posted this morning in the front page, where companies that specalize in LCD replacement do this. But unless you either have extra money lying around or a broken LCD, then this probably isn't the best idea. It is still pretty expensive, as LCD panels are the most costly part of a notebook.

Actually - LCD's and motherboards are pretty much both a 1/3 of the cost of your system to replace...
