I received my V6Va with following specs:

    2 Ghz processor
    2048 MB
100 GB 7200 rpm HDD - it's a hitachi (not sure if this is important)

I noticed that the fan is very often on even if I am not really using the system.
I checked the temp of the CPU (for the fan issue and see it is between 51 and 56 degree Celcius) Is that normal?? What do other V6Va user have?? Is there a way to tweak the fan?

Besides the fan I see a lot of activity on my HDD, even when I am not doing anything???
Is there something that XP does that constantly uses the HDD?
I already switched off the Indexing services and the system restore

XP always uses the harddrive nothing you can do about it. and yes those temps are normal. are you using centrino hardware control? because if you undervolt and turn the HD to quiet and spin down. The temps will go down by 10 degrees aroud there at least.

http://www.pbus-167.com/chc.htm is the site to get it from. install it but first you have to have Microsoft .net installed. so download all the windows updates. then install the centrino harware control its easy to set up. when you install go to the cpu voltage tab click the box next to where it says 6. and lower the voltage to .700 volts. and you can look around and play with other settings its easy to set up.
