I was hoping someone could help me out with my Z71v video drivers. From what I understand, you can not use the standard driver from nvidia and must use the driver provided by the manufacturer. I am a little worried because I know there have been updates by nvidia but Asus has not ever released an updated drver. I just got the demo of BF2 and it tells me I must update my driver even though it plays great. Still, I would like to see if there are performance improvements in a newer driver. I have heard there is a way of modifying the standard nvidia driver. Anyone have any suggestions? [ :D]

    5) Click on the settings tab
    6) Click on Advanced button
    7) Click on Adapter tab
    8) Click on Properties button
    9) Click on Driver tab

Chris, just so you know: the reason you need to update the driver with the Battlefield 2 demo is due to a shadow issue. If you don't update the driver, the shadows will all look like squares.

p.s.: I'm now using the 77.62 driver also.

hey thank you for the current info on the driver update, I followed the steps accordingly, but now when I start Battlefield 2 retail, it blanks back to the desktop and refuses to load. It worked before I updated the drivers from version 71. it is currently updated to forceware version 77.72. thanks in advance

Hmm try to uninstall the driver and do a clean install of it. BF2 comes standard with a 77.30 version, but it is a beta. The 77.72 is the official version released by nvidia. All the other people who playing BF2 right now that I know of are using 77.62 or 77.72 fine w/o any problem.

You might be having version conflict. Go to the control panel and uninstall the driver, then follow the steps to reinstall it

    How To Install:
    1) Download the nvidia driver
    2) Extract it to a directory
    3) download the latest INF file from www.laptopvideo2go.com and save it
to the same directory you had extracted earlier.

Well, i cant install the new drivers because i have the nvidia geforce Go 6600, and that was my whole reason for getting the modified inf file (to be able to install the newest drivers in the first place) If i install the old drivers, and update them like you said, everything seems to be fine except bf2 so far. I guess ill hafta just find the newest driver version that does support the Go 6600 without the modified inf... for the moment im stuck :-/

    No.....

    1) Uninstall the driver you have now. When you uninstall it, it will force you to reboot.

Once you reboot windows will try to detect the driver. It wouldn't be able to, it will ask you for the INF. Follow instruction of installation from there to reinstall

This does not exist. Nvidia DOES NOT support mobile. They left that to the notebook manufacture. So you have to wait until Asus releases one, which will take forver. That is the whole purpose of the MOD driver.

You wouldn't need to install the older driver. Just install directly into the new one.
