I have an Asus M6V and I leave it plugged in most of the time. Is it necessary to take the battery out?

It depends, usually it doesn't matter but under alot of heat, batteries often slowly wear away.

If you want, take it out - but remember to put it back in if you quickly need to unplug it!

Not really. There is not too much heat in the front.

Battery seems quite cool still after a few hrs plugged in.

I was thinking it could be bad for the battery when plugged into the outlet if it has 70% charge remaining? If I've already used less than half of the battery should I use the rest of the battery before plugging back in?

I like to take care of my Asus notebook. It needs to be cared for and looked after well, like you would look after a pet.

The batteries in these notebooks only have a certain shelf life anyway..... we only try to keep stock for a couple months because of that.. So if you sit with your notebook plugged in all the time.... that's ok, because the battery will charge and then stop when it's full....... so it's not going to overcharge...... but after a year you're still going to lose something... it may be a couple minutes, but it will be something. The more you kill it / charge it the more it'll lose over the years, and it's only going to be marginally different than a battery that rarely gets used but stays charged in the system all the time......

In other words..... don't worry about it.... get a new battery in a couple years before they stop making batteries for your system and use it freely now!
