    Hi there,
    I just bought an M51sn.
It's a very good NB but with a big problem for me: the fan is always on (the cpu temp is always between 42 and 47 degrees celsius)
I usually work in a very silent enviroment and the fan noise is something that can bring me to change the notebook. :(
Is there a way not to have the fan always running?
Is it common to all Asus notebook?
    Thanks
    Simone

    Hi,

yes saidly the fans on the most Asus models are always on, because of too much power und too little room in the chassis and therefore bad heat dissipation.
Dell, Lenovo, Toshiba or HP are much better in this regard.

    Regards

You can probably fix that in bios. I'm using an asus board for my desktop PC and it has very intelligent fan control. Fast when playing games/ High process usage, low during internet browsing etc..

    Hi,
I've already tried to update the bios, but nothing happened. I download NHC but I don't know how to modify the fan and temp settings.
For me it's not possible to work with a laptop making always noise.
I guess I have to bring back my laptop to the retailer. :(
    Thanks

Thanks, before buying my Asus I considered buying a Dell xps m1530 but I was worried about fan and hd noise cause some owners complied about that.

    Hi,

yes the XPS has a smaller case, i thought the Vostro for example.

The Vostro is quiet, when you don´t have Seagate HDD.

    Lenovo also, but expensive. :(

Toshiba should als been quiet. I haven´t heard any complains in this regard.
