hey everyone. just got a new laptop about 2 weeks ago and its been running fine so far. id been running off of AC power until it came time for spring classes to start and i relized it wouldnt operate on battery power. i called up asus and shipped the battery to them. got it back and they didnt send an email or letter telling me if they found anything. so i dont even know what they did. but i let it charge a full night without turning it on n it still wont run on battery power. any one know what could b wrong?

ps. it was a returned notebook i got from Newegg.. they sent me a letter saying there was something wrong with the "lcd panel, invert board, main system board and cables/connectors" with the last coustomer and itd been fixed since. when i booted it up the 1st time i got a message from vista saying my serial number didnt match the mother board or something of that nature. i called asus they said newegg didnt do something with the bios correctly n id need 2 ship it back 2 asus 2 get it fixed. i called microsoft n they gave me a new vista serial number and it ran fine.. dno if the bios settings have anything to do with the battery. but im kinda new @ this.. thanks

I would guess the serial number mismatch has little to do with the battery problems, but I cannot be sure.

If they did exchange the battery, it seems the trouble is not with the battery but with the power circuitry logic on the mainboard. You might need to send the entire thing in...

Can you download a software like MobileMeter (XP) or RMClock (Vista), and check the battery info, please? What does it say under max charge, current charge, etc. on the batt properties page. Maybe we can use that info to get some more insight into the problem.

Did you get the charging light to come up when you plugged it in with the new battery to charge it?
