i can still cancel my order :)
is a bios update gonna ever come out for merom support ?
i was thinking about just flashing to the A8Js, but i've heard it uses a different Mobo.
so there's no way to do it then ?

You should cancel your order; just to be safe. Once an updated BIOS is available, then go ahead and reorder.

    i called them
he said he'd email me an engineering sample BIOS that supports Merom.
as you can imagine, i was thrilled.
i got his email 10 mins later saying he was confused, and it doesn't support Merom ;(

nothing else to really update on.
i canceled my order, as they said it wouldn't work.
i mostly use linux, so 64bit isn't that big a deal to me.
maybe i'll just be patient for once, and stick with it for a while

Yeah... wonder why they're taking so long releasing a BIOS update that supports merom for A8Jm.. they've released it for the W3J and W7J... grrrr...

I imagine they have not released it yet because they are not using the same motherboard as the A8jm. They needed the bios update to be able to release the other C2D machines. I could be wrong, but they are probably thinking this one is a low priority comapared to the others.

I wish I could find the post.

Geared2play announced the models that were not compatible with merom.

a8jm was not one of them. I want to reread it.

stamar: I think in that thread he mentioned that the s62j was not compatible, but didn't specifically say A8Jm wasn't compatible. What he did say was IF the A8Jm and s62J used the same chipset, then we might be out of luck...

    Oh wow.

the s62j has some parts compatible with a model called the a8jc.

    This could be bad news.

    it looks different though.

If I had to guess, I would say that's probably a Pentium M chip model?
