So i came to the conclusion that an Asus could not work for me. Since my parents are buying my notebook for college i discussed this with them...they understand the reason for buying a powerful notebook so i can do many tasks powerfully without problems...but they just dont like the fact that there is no local technical support or costumer service center. They dont like the idea that if something goes wrong i have to be sending the laptop to someplace for warranty or whatever without being attended in person and have to wait weeks for it to be returned...and well i kinda agree, having to ship and pay shipments and all that kinda sucks. It's better and more reliable to send it in person. So know im lookin at toshibas...which are not bad...thing is nothing convinced me more than the power and style of the asus notebooks. I was considering a W3j Maybe this is kinda stupid but i dont know... thing is i would like to hear some experiences regarding costumer service and any comments or suggestions. thnx

How would shipping toshi to the west coast of the us any different then shipping a w3j to the west coast of us? If you said dell i would nto object but i have a fond dislike of toshi and their products especially their hard disk drive division.

umm nah i said i looked in toshis web and found a Repair Center here in Puerto Rico...so im guessing i dont have to ship the notebook outside the island.

I have no doubt that ASUS are great notebooks...I just wanna know how costumer service works for Asus and any experiences anyone wants to share. Im also open to any comments or suggestions...maybe what im doin is a stupid desition i just wanna hear opinions and what i mentioned before

the m100 is a nice, if not that good-looking machine. bestbuys and compusas carry them so you shouldnt have a problem with returns and stuff unless you dont have one of those guys near by to purchase it from.

i was considering maybe an A100 model cause those are 15 inch screens but i dont like the graphic cards theyre offering. oh and yea theres compusa, radioshack, but no bestbuys which sucks(too expensive for what they offer)...but anyways theyre service plans suck...id prefer to extend those and buying the notebook on their website...

well i almost went with the m100, but for the configuration i wanted was about 300 over what i wanted to spend. its a real nice laptop tho, i've checked them out at a local best buy. i think its got the ati x1400 or whatever.

yea its an ati x1400 thats a 128mb...if it was a x1600 it would convince me more, thats why i like the Asus...and why would you consider it over the price...i mean i just did a costumization of the m100 and its total cost is not that bad...what did you end up buying?

well its a nice laptop sure, but for the same configuration it was about 1500, same price as the w7j. to be honest the m100 was not a good looking machine. its clunky and also seemed large for a 14". im not saying it was an eyesore, but the w7j is a much better looking machine, with, in my opinion, much better build quality.

Wow. Don't compare Asus to Toshiba. That's..... evil! :p

Run a search for Toshiba Satellite issues, and then run far far away.

Here's my persepctive - if your parents don't like the idea of you having to ship your notebook out for support - you assume that you will have to. Explain it this way. Five local services is worse than one out of island service. Asus is likely to be more reliable (reword that for your parents) which means no service and no issue at all. Problem solved. Next case.
