    hidden partition?

    The capacity of the hard disk of my asus laptop is 160gb.
    whats the use of 9.77gb? I couldn't see the partition and there's no drive letter..
    could I delete the partition?

    it shound be your recovery partion to restore from hard disk
    also to burn your backup disk

    have you already burned a set of recovery disk?

    It's the OS recovery partition, for if something ever goes terribly wrong.

    Sure you could delete, but it is nice to have, and it doesn't look like you are too pressed for space at the moment.
    If you do need to the space, I would save it for the last thing to wipe off.

    If you have that you maybe did not get a windows disk with your laptop. That would be the substitute. The OS is saved to that partition. If you take that out you just took out your means to re-install your OS. I dont know about you but I always have to reinstall my OS at some point in time down the road.

    If you do have a disk with your OS on it, then its not a big deal, just means you lose a means to a faster re-install.

    To clarify, HDD recovery (from that partition) is done on the order of minutes; recovery from the optical disk(s) is done in the order of hours.
