I recently got a G1 pre-loaded with Vista Home Premium. Connecting to my wireless network is spotty. Sometimes it connects right away, but most of the time the connection icon has an X over it indicating it could not connect. Sometimes after 5 or more minutes it will connect. My network is listed as an available network and signal strength is high. If I try to manually connect when the icon is X'd out, it comes back saying it could not establish a connection with the network. What I don't know is whether or not there's a problem with the router or if it's the built-in wifi adapter in the G1. Is anyone else having a similar problem? Is there any way to test if the the adapter is working properally?

I have the MCE G1, but I wanted to mention that I've never been able to use Intel's software to connect properly to my network. (With the Compal hel80 or the G1). I tell Intel's software to let Windows control my wireless connections and have no problems since.

I found out that the problem was my router. I was able to connect to an unsecured network in my building but mine was still unavailable. I picked up a new router and all is well.

I have a NETGEAR WGR614 router and my wireless connection on my desktop works fine but for some reason I can't get it to work on my G1 notebook. Whenever I try to connect to my network, it says unidentified network and it says the connection is "local only" where it should be "local and internet." Is anyone else having problems with their wireless connection on their G1's? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

I had no problem connecting until I uninstalled Net4switch. Imediately after uninstallation (is that a word?) wireless continued to work fine, but the next time I came to use my G1 it couldn't even detect any networks letalone connect. After a quick reinstallation of Net4switch everything was back to normal. Surely I should be able to connect wireless without Net4switch though?

What is Net4Switch for? There's a bunch of these apps on the computer with no documentation.
