g1 and command and conquer 3

Anybody else having trouble runing this game? I just want to make sure its the game and not my copy of windows I loaded on the G1. I get to the EA logo then it crashes. as in a black screen and nothing more. I got it to load once. but dunno what I did.

 

Umm... a bit more information needed. Catalyst version? XP or Vista? Using high detail or medium detail?

 

Vista or XP? I have the box sitting here so I might test it out this weekend.

 

Sorry forgot its not in my sig. This is running on the XP Media edition side. not the vista. And I can't even get to the starting screen. As I mentioned, I get the ea logo and nothing more.

 

Hmm For a minute, I thought it was my NHC as I removed it from the tray and the program loaded.But I added it back on and the program ran. I wonder if the stock video driver is causing issues. gonna install an updated driver.

 

Sorry to ask, but is that a legit C&C copy or are you using a no cd cracked game?

Mine works just fine.

This is a well known fact now. I have been running multiple tests on Laptops and desktops with C&C3. Here's my results.

My Desktop + ATI: Crashes on Ultra High Settings, so I switched to Low settings and it works.

My Laptop + ATI: Works at High Settings and I should be able to push for more graphics.

Friend's Desktop + Nvidia: Works at Medium Settings and plays fine.

Friend's Desktop + 2x8800GTS + Vista: High Resolution and Ultra High settings and works perfectly.

Friend's Laptop + Nvidia: Works well with High settings and works.

All of these computers have all the updates, latest drivers.

If you look around, you will find everyone is having this problem of crashing, however there are a lot of lucky people who don't have this problem. In my opinion it is just luck of the draw.

So for now, play the game at low to medium settings, that is what I have to do with my desktop it now doesn't crash but hey, I barely notice the difference in graphics. Good Luck

 

I'm running Win XP Pro and the NVIDIA - Mobileforce M4 Enhanced Drivers (Version: 9.4.2.0)

 

Thanks for the help. I'm pretty sure it was the video drivers. Once I upgraded past the stock drivers the game now loads consistantly.

Btw, Thanks for the info about what may or may not work. You can add Desktop+Nvidia7800gt SLI as one that will work with all settings. mine worked since I bought the game, so I never really looked around for ppl with issues till just now. Oh and you can add another Laptop+Nvidia will all settings maxed as working. At least for the time I played. nothing crashed.
