Not sure which laptop you have. but if it BSOD the first thing I will check is the RAM, try pull one stick of RAM out at a time to see if it's the RAM problem.

To remove the RAM you would need to whip off the back panel depending on where it is on your laptop however before even thinking about doing that make sure it will not void your warranty!!

What are your temps? BSOD is normally a hardware issue but could be one of many things.

Does it do it when your computer is running a specific program? Are you overclocking CPU or GPU?

it freezes when i leave my laptop for a while, lid open, sometimes it freezes if i leave it for 15 min, sometimes an hour, sometimes it wont it hasnt bsod today but it froze another 4 times and i had to hold the power button to turn it off, just 5 mins ago it happened and the screen where it says start windows normally didnt even respond for a few secs i was pressing the enter button and nothing happened and then windows started after a few secs, if its hardware i really want to find out but i ave no knowledge on computers and also dont want to void my warranty, i use to have powerplay activated, but disabled it a cuple of weeks ago, i bsod once a few weeks ago as well so this is the second time it has happened, is this normal is there something wrong, have no idea about computers????

Post your spec to make it easier for us to help you what notebook are you using?

Because its running and its freezing intermitently to be honest im thinking you have bad drivers are you seeing any yellow lines across the screen or getting BSOD since the first one? Have you dropped the laptop at all as I had a similiar problem from punching one of mine (long story) i busted the HDD and it would be really slow and just keep dying until all of a sudden nothing.

If you have dropped it or banged it check nothing is loose and that the CD drive has not come out of its bay slightly.

Lastly what windows are you using? Is it updated and secure? Antivirus spyware etc and clean of any trojans?

EDIT: Sorry just noticed you said Windows 7. :S I cant see Windows 7 having system issues to be honest. Ill wait for your spec before advising you further could be hardware. Please check your Temps as well bad thermal compound on the CPU could be causing overheating after its been on a while.

I think you'll find better resources regarding the G73 here:

    ASUS Gaming Notebook Forum

The majority of the sub-forum is G73 related : )

Did the BSOD give you any indication as to what caused the crash? So far there has been one instance of incorrectly installed wireless drivers that caused a BSOD.

As for random lockups when you return to the computer after a while, I had that too with the Creative software installed. Try installing the latest Realtek drivers.

Happens if you installed stuff like IM programs (Gtalk/pidgin/yahoo messenger)

More details about the Creative lockup in this thread.

nah it just says it could be a hardware or software issue with a long string of numbers at the bottom of it, and yeah i installed the latest realtek drivers, ill try installing them again and see what happens, its just the freezing thats really getting annoying scince it happens alot

What's really bizarre is this happened to me 3 times yesterday out of the blue. Once it was while I was playing SC2 and the other 2 times it was just browsing the web.

I did 3 things since then.
    Update ATI drivers to 10.8
    Update Bios to 2.11
Installed this MS Hotfix A computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 stops responding randomly

Ever since then, I haven't had any lockups.

Crazy how it happened to both of us yesterday for no reason.

If you receive another BSOD, please wirte down and post the first set of numbers and letters at the bottom. This will actually give us a clue as to what the problem is.

Does the system ever freeze during normal use?
