Just got an e1505 and was wondering, if I wanted a better graphics card in the future, could I swap out all my e1505 components (processor/hard drive/wireless card/dvd drive/etc) into an s/z96j?

The CPU, HD, Wireless card should be no problem. I'm not sure about the DVD drive, but I think it should fit.

Yes, you would be able to swap out ram, HD, CPU, wireless card, and optical drive. You will not be able to secure optical drive in notebook though. The optical drives come with 2 brackets.

How long have you had e1505?

Basically just bought it; graphics are the best I've experienced (my other comps have integrated or dismal discrete cards), but I gotta turn the rez way down on fear. Just wanna make sure I don't have to waste all the components if/when I need better graphics.

If you have had it for less than 30 days you can return it. While the e1505 is a very nice notebook it is not nearly as good for gaming. If you game a lot I would consider returning, if you game infrequently then it probably is not a big deal. The X1600 is a huge step up from the X1400 (it performs twice as good). I'm able to run FEAR at native resolution (1280x800) with mostly max settings (no soft shadows) and it is silky smooth.

Just got a ton of pc games to catch up and the only "problem" is fear. It's still playable though (and freaky as hell). Everything else; far cry, doom, hl2 runs fine. Got the e1505 based on price/extra components/warranty, but I don't think I could go down to xga after sxga. The z96j would have been my first choice if it was out and had the same price...
