The W.E.I. graphics scores for my new Asus F80S-X1 are too low: 3.5 Aero, 3.9 Gaming Graphics.

I thought the 3470 was faster than the 8400m gs, where I get 4.1 Aero, 4.7 Gaming Graphics.

I tried the latest drivers off the ATI site, as well as the Asus site.

Is this a driver issue, and if so, what are the best ones to use?

    WEI is not a benchmark.
Not only that, but it's inconsistent, inaccurate, and all around garbage. Drivers will not change a WEI score the way they will change a 3dmark score.
The 3470 IS a better card. It should be performing better. So, in benchmarks (3dmark, game FPS, etc) how is it doing?

I got the same problem when I brought my Sony FW11. ATI not making drivers for the mobile card. I manage to modify ATI Desktop Driver 8.10 to work with HD3470.After that may WEI score goes upto 4.6.(But WEI is not so reliable benchmark solution) If you want I can post download link .

    Thanks for the link.

Even using the modded drivers, my WEI remains unchanged.

Moreover, I ran 3DMARK06 and got 1778, which is very close to what I get on my 8400m gs (1667).

Because of this and the stuck red pixel, I may be returning this new Asus, and keeping my m1330 a little while longer....

    First Uninstall ATI driver

    Restart in Safe mode

    Run Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

Restart again in safe mode & run CCleaner Registry scanner and cleaner

Restat again to windows & install new driver

    Restart & run benchmark programs

I did an image restore to factory defaults, still the same sub-par performance, then applied latest ATI drivers with same results.

By the way, running RTHDRIBL, I get around 50 fps with my 8400m gs. With the supposedly better HD3470 I was getting around 40 fps--a 20% difference!

As a last resort I downloaded their flash utility and latest BIOS, but SURPRISE: the flash utility is not Windows based, and seems to require DOS!

I just returned the unit to Staples because of this, and the stuck red pixel in the middle of the screen.

I was expecting more from an Asus product.

Just curious, did you ever run any real-world benchmarks i.e., games? Performance in synthetic benchmarks doesn't always match up to that in games.

You should be able to flash your BIOS from Windows with Winflash, but using DOS or a built-in flash program is recommended. Winflash is not the safest method because conflicts and crashes can brick your machine, but I did it the other day and got away with it. Heck, I even used it to flash the BIOS on my desktop mobo a long time ago.

I tried W.E.I., 3DMark06, and RTHDRIBL. All were not as high as I expected.

    I didn't try any games.

RTHDRIBL though is a good indicator as it shows the fps in real-time and is easy to compare.

(I knew my 8400m gs was dying last time based on the lower numbers.)
