iam planning on buying the s96j but with only 2.5 hour of battery life (and wanting a 7200 rpm hdd) i need a second battery or the 9 cell .

and there are very much little stores that sell this laptop and also the batterys.

and the question is or there are any models with the same battery as the s96j ?so i can buy that one and use it in my s96j ?

can somebody confirm the battery life with a 7200/5400 rpm drive ? maximum and minimum life (the 2 standings with battery eater)

    thx

I haven't used the battery much on my S96J, but with a T2500, a 7200rpm hdd, and wireless enabled and brightness somewhat high I've gotten roughly 2 hours during normal use. (Mostly web browsing, etc)

That is on the 6-cell battery of course, still trying to decide if I should get the 9-cell one.

I get about 2:15 with brightness pretty high, on a T2400, 5,400rpm HDD.

As shown on the Specifications page for the PowerPro A 2:24 (ASUS S96J) gets 2.5 to 3 hours battery life. That was with the wireless card turn off. With it on you will lose about 20-30 minutes.

We use BatteryEater to test the batteries, and it got 2.5 hours on Classic mode and just over 3 hours on Idle mode.

The 9 cell batteries will become available soon (within the next several weeks), so if you can wait that long for the battery it will be available as an accessory.

You might also want to look at the PowerPro L 8:15 or Crown P 15:2 (Compal HEL80). They have 9 cell batteries standard. There is a lot of good discussion and reviews for the HEL80 in the Compal section of this forum.

That is correct. Any branded S96J battery will fit in any other branded S96J.
