    core 2 duo p5800 4gb ram nvidia 9300m GS

    i tried coreAVC and MPC

    i tried CCCP and MPC

    tried both together

MKV files still lag- especially 1080p ones...

is there something I am doing wrong? are there some settings I need to tweak?

I am getting really frustrated because I was almost sure this lap top could handle hd mkv files when i purchased it based on specs...

    what can i do?

    Welcome to the forum!

If I'm remembering, the X83 is a 14" model with 1280x800 res so 1080p would have to be downsampled significantly to run on the lower res screen, and in real time that could be problematic. The gpu isn't going to help, but the cpu should be passable, maybe. Or it's a software/codec issue.

How does it run with 720p material, or other HD sources other than the mkv container?

the lap top has a hdmi outpt- which supports 1080 (obviously) but, it is the same amount of lag when i output it also. The 720 files work pretty good, about 5% of the movie it will lag... ive read that coreAVC and mpc should do the trick- so im thinkin maybe it's not a codec issue, but the cpu just cant handle that power. But, many people tell me that their old single core computers can handle 1080 files?

    *really frustrating/confusing*

Fred: I love everything about the lap top... it's small, powerful... couple driver issues here and there... but overall i would buy it agian for 649.99$
