i'm thinking of buying this one, but want to know if it is worth forking out A$1460 to get it.

I'll not be playing high 3-d performance requiring games, and the notebook will be used mostly for office work, internet, music, movies and so on.

I havent seen a picture for it closed, and I'm scared that it might be ugly.

If that's not the one, then can you guys recommend a notebook around that price range?

    Thanks

What's your price range? You can also take a look at M51, which is a lot less expensive compared to X55.

It's an esthetically pleasing laptop. THe back cover is black and glossy with "asus" in white lettering. In the same price range I'd recommend the dell xps 1530 ( make sure to get the coupons). It's thinner and built with higher quality materials. As to your wondering whether or not the Asus worth 1460$, that depends on the configuration you've selected. Hope this was of some help

I would say both have their style when it comes to quality materials. Coming from someone who had used both, I would say ASUS's computer has much higher quality than Dell.

In terms of styling, Dell features metallic finish, while ASUS is more businessman oriented. Depends on which you like better.

I'm thinking of buying the Asus X55SV-AS081C. I was looking for a decently priced laptop for gaming. No other laptop I've looked at have the same or better specs for the same price. Doesn't look that bad either.
