    Hi All,

Given that the M6BNE had its GPU changed from an ATI9600 to an ATI9700 during its lifespan, is there a good possibility we might see the same with the Z70V? Perhaps an X700 is in order in a couple of months?

The reason the 9700 was changed out was becasue the 9600 had the shortest lifespan of all... the 9700 came out like two months after the 9600 and it fit in the same size chassis and the cost wasn't any different.

We'll certainly see updates and updates certainly haven't only happened on the M6's of late....... but what and when are not something you can try to bet on right now.

The x700 probably needs some more room and would cost more...... so that may put it out of reach for the normal Z70v buyer......

    Thanks,

ASUS may not sell huge numbers in the states, but did you forget about the rest of the world??? Its not like ASUS can be compared to voodoo etc, they sell huge quanties of stock in comparison. They cant just change as they feel like it, they are subjet to much large market forces...cost, avaliablity, etc etc. I would er on the side of not expecting an X700 in the M6 series for sometime, maybe Xmaas or next year, but also maybe not at all.
The fact that there is still no X700 in any ASUS notebook tells me that they have held off on that part for a reason...be it cost, size, heat, or they just dont see a benifit? But if/when a notebook arrives with that gpu, you can bet that ASUS will want to keep that notebook special for awhile. One reason the w1 didnt do so well was the M6Ne cameout at the same time with the same or better hardware, and was cheaper, so most..including myself went for it instead. I think ASUS knows this and will try and keep the lines betw. each model more distinct.

Those are all good points. The biggest issue is that in the US Asus orders what will sell in north america..... They can't stock stuff for months on end, they want to be very liquid with their stock and if it's not going to sell in a couple weeks, max.... .they're not going to be ordering that much when they reorder.

Same thing goes for having too many system that are a like. The newest lineup puts a lot of computers CLOSE in terms of size and features and price.... Asus wants to keep them apart. IF the Z70v had 128mb, it would be more expensive... it would also put the Z71v as a model you only get if you don't have the money or maybe you hate ATI... i don't know...... but if too many of the products start to over lap, then one model doesn't sell because people are favoring one over the other and vice versa...... If they keep them differenty they appeal to a broader market and everyone in this forum may want a W3v, but everyone else in the states may want a Z63a...... you never know.

    Thanks,
