I just got my barebones Z63A shipped, and it is a gorgeous piece of equipment! It makes my old laptop look like a dinosaur in comparison. My old system is a HP Pavilion ze5470US circa 2003. It has so many nooks and crannies, flexible plastic components, and ugly shapes to it... I don't know how I've lived with it the past two years after seeing the difference. Not to mention the HUGE weight difference.

I just want to thank *every* one of you that has posted about their experiences, both good and bad. It has been a difficult decision, but if the build quality is any indication, I am going to love this system.

Now if only deliveries came over the holiday, maybe I'd get my CPU and hard drive! :( Ah well, a one day turn-around from ordering to delivery (with UPS ground!!) ain't bad....

Thanks guys. I'll keep you posted when I get everything installed.

    Regards,
    Paul Otto

You think that's beautiful, you should see the premium version of that unit, the W3. You'd be slobbering over the aluminum lid. Actually the whole asus line up would be to die for.

But don't you guys find that white battery casing annoying?? I mean, it detracts from the beauty of the machine.

Not at all! At first.. in pictures, I thought it looked a bit... plain/normal... but in person, the white is actually quite nice. Really gives the Z63a good character.

I second that motion! If you've seen the z63a in person you won't mind it as much. The pics really don't do it justice because I think the reflective-ness of the white really shows up in the pics.

It looks awesome in person. It is a natural fit. Others have commented on this, but I had to get in my opinion as well!

    A little off topic...but right now I'm at school, and I'm sitting across a girl who's using a W3A; a REAL W3A from Taiwan I believe...stickers and all.
The only two differences I see are...instead of "Built on ASUS" on the top lid, it simply says "ASUS"...
and below the LCD (above the battery), there's also another ASUS logo.
Other than that, it looks identical...
I dont know why I wanted to mention this...I guess I just find it kinda cool to be sitting across from a W3A.
    Haha...I need a life.

    OOOOOK...

If you notice the girl first before the laptop then I think you're fine.
If you notice the laptop before the girl, then you need help. :)

You know Sam, you can strike up conversation with that girl. Just tell her, "I'll show you mine if you show me yours *add sly wink here*" (Laptop that is) Muahaha.a.

    Like,
"Does your SD card slot accept 1 or 2 GB SD Cards? Cause I have a 3 GB one"

    Another:
"You know, this 14" Widescreen Colorshine LCD is too bright (point to her screen) maybe we should dim it a little bit to set the mood"

    Geez...I thought I was a dork :p

And yes, I noticed the LAPTOP first...because her back was facing me.
Let's just say the girl wasn't as pretty as the laptop... :(

Ahh such a crying shame. Well at least she knows how to pick a laptop.
