Hey, just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to hook up an Xbox 360 to any Asus machine? Mainly wondering about the V1. I'm not exactly tech-savvy, so I would really appreciate it if anyone knew how.

The thing is, I'd rather not buy an external monitor as I'll be taking both the laptop and the Xbox to university and I won't have that much desk space.

    Thanks in advance!

Also if you have a VGA in then it will work but you have to buy the 360 vga cable as the hd one that comes with the premium package won't work but like aan310 says you can also use the tv tuner.

I have yet to find a good way to show video input on my computer.

I have AV in but all the software thats supports AV in that I have found only gives a very small picture. Windows movie maker I belive is one and the only one stock on the machine, then I tried a few different video recording apps.

There was no just easy "view video in" type option around.

    Im basing this off vivo.

Theres no reasonable solution that i have found that'll let you do that.

The tv-tuner would work in theory but there is a significant amount of lag time between the real time input of the 360 and when its actually displayed thorough the software on your laptop.

It would be fine for watching dvds but videogame play would be impossible and even navigating the menus while watching dvds would be a little irritating.

    @Wingsbr
Are there any laptops with video in?

Actually, I think there is a universal device that can do that. I remember seeing a review of it on this site or on engadget maybe a month ago. I wish I could find the link, I just tried for a while but I couldn't find it. The guy had his PS2 hooked up to his laptop and said it worked ok and I believe it went through USB. I will try to find the link and post back, I believe the link went to a site where you could actually order these things and they werent to expensive.

edit: I found the TV Wonder USB 2.0 by ati which is an external usb tv-tuner, but not the other product I saw before. I don't believe the other one was a tuner, just an input for consoles

Thanks everyone, looks like I might have to sacrifice some desk space (and money) and buy a decent external monitor. Doesn't seem worth the trouble trying to get video input, especially if I will see subpar results.

    Thanks again!

I had great results when I did it, hardware was fine. Again it was just the software that was poor.

I was playing my gamecube (super smash brothers) on a picture that was the size of an IM window (or smaller) what was cool tho was I could record it ^^ so I was able to make gameplay movies and also I took those and made animated gifs out of them.

If sombody can track down some software that will display the information coming in thru the video in port full screen you would be set.

Again I am talking about VIVI wich is the tech that a desktop video card uses if you hook a video in source to your video card.

Id imagine a TV tuner card gives you more options and comes with its own software that lets you do just what your asking about. Because alof of people turn there computers into DIVO's or TV's. Also at that oint the video would be comming thru your tv tuner not the video in of your video card.

take a look at the gamebridge. i believe that coriolis did a review of it, and it should be in the review forum. it is probably your best bet for getting good playability through your laptop.
