I'm helping my sister buy a cheap laptop for business and home use (mostly just Office, email, web surfing etc.), but since I've only owned one laptop myself - an Asus G1S-A1 - I figured I would ask for a bit of advice here.

I looked at HP and Dell first, but the former seem like it might require tracking down a dealer with the proper model first - and my sister is only home in Denmark for a short Summer vacation, she lives in Shanghai (she's a bit hesitant to try to find a laptop out there instead) - and I didn't really feel that I could quite find what I was looking for among the Dell models either.
So since I've had good experiences with Asus I figured that would be next stop, and in the given price range they only seem to have a couple of models - the X59GL and the X58LE, both costing almost exactly the same in the Danish oline store where I expect to recommend she buys the laptop, as I know they have very quick delivery.

Outside of fairly irrelevant (given what she'll be using it for) differences in CPU speed and assorted specs, it looks like the most relevant differences are:

    Screen resolution:
    X59GL: 15.4" 1280x800
    X58LE: 15.6" 1366x768

    GPU:
    X59GL: Geforce 8200M
X58LE: Intel GMA X3100 (as a gamer I have a natural animosity towards anything not Nvidia or ATI, but as this laptop won't be used for gaming, I don't know if this is as much a recipe for disaster as I sounds like to me?)

    Windows:
X59GL: Vista Home Basic (supposedly without the Aero interface and a few other features, but that's probably not relevant for her)
X58LE: Vista Home Premium (can that Intel chip even run Aero without crying for help?)

My pick would be the X59GL - even though I'm not too happy about that 1280x800 resolution (on the other hand it's less strain on the eyes on such a small screen, the 1680x1050 on my G1S-A1 is certainly bordering on overkill in my opinion), nor Vista Basic - but any input on why the X58LE might actually be a better option (assuming it is of course :)) would be very welcome.
So would other suggestions entirely of course, but as I said, it doesn't look like it's possible to find other Asus models in that price range here in Denmark (around DKK 4,000 ~ $750, yes, hardware really is that expensive here).
And since this is the Asus subforum I'm not really expecting any of you to say she should choose Acer or Dell or HP or something instead :).

Edit: Oh, also the X59GL is available in two versions with just a few Dollars price difference - VHB and VHP. What are those?

Since you don't seem to get much input here, you could consider filling in the FAQ and posting in What Notebook Should I Buy.

In my experience integrated GPUs run Vista Aero acceptably. But maybe I'm not too demanding. :)

You will find a review of an X59 submodel here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=122632#reviews
The build quality, usability remarks in that review will apply to your model.

I don't know anything else about those models.

1280x800 on a 15.4" screen is a bit large, yes, but in a tight price range, I don't know if you can do better. I would prefer the 15.4" 16:10 screen instead of the 15.6" 16:9, myself, due to the aspect ratio.

Those subversion numbers (VH*) probably have a minor spec difference (like HDD size, RAM, etc).
