Would the people who own the Asus g73jh-a2 (or a1) recommend the laptop?
    How problem prone are they?

Bobbyjames, I would highly recommend this machine. For the most bang for a the buck an SSD primary hard drive is hard to beat (around $225 for 80 GIG intel). If you go with a botique retailer such as mentioned in my signature, ask them to flash the BIOS to 209 and test keyboard lights etc. mentioned in other threads in this forum.
I am very happy with stock drivers, all the games I have tired, Dirt 2, LFD, Need for Speed... run flawlessly.

I've had the Bestbuy version and now this X2. both worked great and I've had no hardware issues. There are little software gotchas but if you use it mostly as it comes delivered (just removing some bloatware) it works just fine. Just take care not to update drives or BIOS unless you really need to and it should work well.

Plays all my games wonderfully. VMware Workstation 6 & 7 work great as well. Allows you to run certain apps in a secure environment w/o impacting your primary install. Also great for internet surfing. That way there is no way my gaming environment ever get corrupted.

    Cheers,

Bobby James, there are no issues with this thing. Its pretty much the best laptop I've ever seen. Mine will be here tomorrow. Yes, I don't have it yet so how can I be so sure? I just hang around in these forums too much to know this kind of stuff.

I feel for the vocal few with serious issues; but I *LOVE* mine.

It's missing a few things that keep it from being perfect, but I wouldn't trade for anything else. 2 weeks old and still pretty blown away every time I use it by how fast quiet and cool it is.

Can't say I would recommend it. Both mine and my friends are in to Asus RMA for GPU issues. However lots of folks seem to be happy with theirs so...

Mine is problem free, has been since day 1. Have no idea what a GSOD, PSOD, BSOD looks like on this machine. It's done everything that I have asked of it, and performed flawlessly.
