Why do the Asus laptops(gaming ones) mostly have the horrible orange glossy look.

Asus could be my only alternative if i cant get my hands on a Sager Np8660 any soon and yet just the looks of one make me think no thanks.

You could repaint it yourself to suite your likings. I had the same thoughts before I purchased the G50 a few months ago, but the orange doesn't look that bad in real life and does start to grow on you. :)

The NP8660 also much larger than the average 15" ;) It's about the same size as the G50 but thicker.

i have a Asus G50 A2, and i admit that i was a little skeptical about the orange also but, IMHO i think it looks better in person. the orange isn't as bright as i thought it would be. and as far as the size its a little bit bigger than most 15.4 but Ive heard that its partial because it has a full number keyboard, which was a must for me. and the ASUS reputation & warranty are second to none. and if its a little bigger big deal, i carry mine everyday with the brick in my laptop bag and not once while at home playing fallout 3 on high, with no problems and temps at 126F to 128F (with cooler) do i ever think, geez i wish this was 8oz's lighter and 4mm skinner :p

I agree 100%. It's not as orange-ish as most photos show. It's darker than that. This is my first ASUS that I actually decided to keep and I love it. Got 2 compliments on its looks today at work.

why do you have 3 laptops?? (if i may ask lol)

Also i know the NP8660 is abit bigger than a 15,4 incher (standard) but it doesnt have a numpad which i dont need thats why i opted 15 instead of 17 inch (5793). If this has the room to stock a full numpad maybe its bigger what do you think.

PS: ANYONE LIVES CLOSE TO A CANADIAN BORDER?(east). pm me.

Yes, the G50 is just under 1" wider than the NP8660, but it's also slightly shorted in depth and height. So, it's hard to tell which is "smaller".

btw, I'm sorta close to the eastern Canadian border ;)

I have 4. One of the m5550's is my son's. The other is used for home security.

The m15x is the most powerful and is used for playing games at the highest resolution possible. It's the bomb!

The G50VT-A1 is used for work and at home when I don't need the highest resolution. Bang for the buck, it's hard to beat!

It is, but the blue pattern on the back of the lid is far worse than the orange, imho.
