    Hi Guys,

I had placed an order for a white Asus W7SG-3P010C however they are discontinued and the pc shop can't get his hands on one.

I was consdering the F8P-4P018C but need opinions both positive and negative on it.

I have a budget of upto $2000 and want a white laptop for word processing, internet and medium core gaming (gta4, wc4 etc).

Initially I was after an Asus but now will be more then happy to consider other brands such as dell, toshiba & zepto etc.

The unit must be between 12" to 14" and has to be white as it will be used by my wife who is a primary school teacher and want something she will enjoy.

Are the new Asus U6Ep and U6Sg any good?

    In need of urgent advice.

    Thanks.

The U6 series are excellent notebooks with great build quality. Keep in mind that the U6E doesn't have a dedicated graphics card while the U6Sg has dedicated 9300m GPU. However, the white colored is limited to the U6E (at least in the US).

By the way, did you check THIS link?

I agree the U6 do look nice. As well as not having a graphics card the U6E also weighs 3kg which is too heavy imo for a 12" on the other hand the U6Sg only weighs in at 1.7kg.

Thanks for the link. I'll be visiting the pc store soon and see what happens.

The U6E does NOT weigh 3kg. Where are you getting this info? It weighs 1.57kg (or 3.46lbs) including the 3 cell battery.

The company that I am looking at getting this unit sells them with a 6 cell battery which increases the weight to 3 kg. Otherwise you are right with a 3 cell battery both the U6EP and the U6SG weigh 1.5kg.

3kg is 6.6lbs. There is no way that a 6 cell battery will increase the weight of a laptop by a factor of 2, unless you've got a notebook that weighs like 0.25kg or so.

For comparison, my MSI GX600 (15.4") with a 6 cell battery weighs around 2.8kg and my 13" W7S with a 6 cell weighs just under 2kg.

I recommend you check out the U3S for something close to the W7S.

Yeah I agree but but that's what the website states unless it's a misprint.

I honestly like the thinness and innovativeness of the Macbook but I've never used one before and will take a while to get used to especially that the laptop is mainly for my wifes use and she is less computer literate then me.
