Built-on are cheaper than ensemble, so if you get a barebone and you build it, you can get something much better for a little more than that one you are asking about.

Most of the time, Built-Ons are cheaper than Ensembles...
but the A3 series is good and very very cheap - probably the cheapest Ensemble notebook Asus has...

Probably the cheapest, but if you can, you should look for a Z63A.

I persuaded my friend to get one recently and he loves it to death over his previous choice of some HP which came out to the same price with lower specs.

You should be able to find one for a great price. It's a high quality laptop.

    Cheers,
    Mike

Make sure to compare components' pricing, because you will most likely get better deals on some components thru online stores like newegg and ZZF. And the Z62f is not too hard to get components installed.

I compared prices a couple of weeks ago and the savings were close to $200.

Not sure if people realize. There is one thing you need to have a dealer modify on the z62f. The 3 plastic fet on the bottom need to be cut down, The notebook has a very small defect which makes it wobble easily fixed with a dremel.

I assume this is a first batch issue and will get fixed in the future?

Dont know but i hope so. Its relatively minor and we are taking care of it on our side. A few minutes of polishing gets it right and looks right. Not sure if they plan on doing anything about it. I know they are selling worse then the z63a for some reason. I think the pictures dont do it any justice.

Yeah I suggested the newer UGLIER models to my friend who recently bought a Z63A, but he just said they look too ugly, so he opted for the Z63A and its fashionable bag. HAHAHA.

It was pretty much the last bag in Toronto since they don't come with it anymore. He persuaded the guys at PacificNotebooks to give him the old package with the wireless mouse and sexy bag. He said unless they give him the old package he wouldn't buy it so they gave him their LAST bag which was part of a demo laptop on display.

    Heheheeeee.

Bought the A3H on newegg finally. Laptop with 1.3 mega pixel webcam + DVD writer for $739 is not that bad. Thanks for opinions guys!
