How come it seems there is no webcam in the w3j? The a8j has it but seems to be an inferior model?
Will the w3j have it when they are released with core 2 duo's???
    Thanks!

There is no space on the Bezel for it.

The W3 Chasis will NOT change, so there is no camera on it, and will never have one, unless they change the bezel itself.

The A8jm is not inferior, but only, relatively, and only to some not to all, is the build materials, the A8's are plastic-composite materials base, while the W3 chassis is Carbon Fibre-composite and brushed aluminum.

Yeppers, to get the "good stuff" somethings must be sacrificed. Anyways, the cameras on these laptops aren't the greatest, but I guess if it comes with one its a bonus.

Its cool that they started integrating useful gadgets such as a webcam. Hopefully they dont' go for cheap and have shoddy ones with microphones that barely pick up anything. I hate that. Handfree headsets are lame also. Its suppose to be the wave of the future, no cords!

Meh, if the webcam is so essential, then spring for an external one. You can get one of much higher quality than the ones built into the bezel.

Sure it's a nice feature to have it integrated, but if you're in love with the W3 chassis then don't let the lack of a webcam deter you.

Cori's got it right, if the chassis ain't changing, then there won't be a webcam on any upcoming W3 models.

Having a built in webcam in the W3J would make it a larger notebook then it already is. If you look at the size of the W7J in comparison you notice that the extra .8 inches doesn't much affect the overall size of the W3J. I don't think the W3J will be getting any drastic changes like this for a very long time, if ever.

lol I was waiting for people to say that the webcam sucks, and it usually does. I agree, if you really need one get an external one. Better picture quality and can have free range movement.

actually I find that the webcam in my A8Jm isn't bad at all...it's almost on par with my logitech quickcam 4000.

Sounds like you would be an excellent candidate for the V1J

Webcams don't typically have mics at all, and many laptops (including the W3j) already have built-in mics.

Yeah I didn't mean they had to have one stuck right on the webcam, just any mic in general that requires no cords and just plain talking towards the screen. My old inspiron 2500, budget in may ways, had a killer mic and it recorded room level sound with room level volume. I havent' seen that anymore. They always skimp on the parts that i really like. Saves them, what, $1?
