If I buy an Asus notebook at Best Buy, do I get any kind of warranty?

Yes go to Best Buy online and check your model under specs. I just ordered from New Egg and have 1 year including accidental damage. You should shop other places and check it might be better. 2 years for Asus seems more standard.

You get 1 year warranty. The accidental warranty and extra 2nd year warranty does not apply to Asus models available at BB.

I don't get the 2nd year at New Egg but do get accidental damage for 1 year. I looked at XoticPC. Same price but 2 year Asus warranty and 1 year accidental damage. Well same price but New Egg has $150 mail in rebate?

Best Buy does not give 1 year accidental damage? That is kind of bad.

I thought all laptops bought in BB are covered only by BB warranty?

I forgot to add that the model is the ASUS X83Vm-X1. It was bought in California this weekend, but I'll be using it overseas.

Do I need to register with Asus or Best Buy for a warranty? How does it apply?

(Sorry if I ask all this, but it's my first notebook...)

All you need to do is register your notebook with Asus (can be done online or via mail). I believe the X83 models from best buy only has a 1 year warranty while the some of the G50 from BB has a 2 year warranty.
