    Great comparison shots!

Asus should just axe the W5F and send over the W7F since there's practically no size difference and very small weight difference. The 6-cell won't stick out of the W7 either.

Then bring back out a true 12" ultraportable like the S5 was.

That's a good point........ basically the U5 sort of replaced the S5 in a lot of ways..... but since everything's going widescreen, the S6 is in a lot of ways the real replacement for the S5, although I'd love an 11" widescreen without an optical drive... that'd make for a 2 - 2.25 pound system which would be AWESOME.

Excellent comparison. Your reasoning for owning a w7j is in lieu of a larger notebook is very close to mine. To me decent power and graphics and outstanding size, viewing angle, and weight make the ideal combination to travel and do work. Larger more powerful laptops are too cumbersome to travel with (I traveled 60,000 miles in the air last year), and yes I use my laptop on the seat tray of the plane. With the 9 cell battery I can still get the w7j on the seat tray and have enough room to adjust the viewing angle.

Nice comparison. I momentarily thought you were comparing it to the z35f from the just the sizes. :p Yeah yeah I know it looks different. So far the w7j is the perfect laptop right now for me. Thin bezel, which mean the size isn't wasted and the 13.3" actually fits right. Also, the depth is only ~8.9", which is .8" shorter than my current notebook, yay!

    No prob :p

I thought it would be helpful for those deciding between a W5F and W7J to actually see the two of them together (of course, aside from just considering the specs).

    W7 is a nice laptop.

Oh and one point that I missed bringing up is that the W7 is the first laptop that I've seen where the left FN key is in the right place. Most laptops have the FN key in the bottom left corner, which confuses the hell out of me as I invariably end up hitting the FN key while trying to hit the CTRL key, which on all normal keyboards, is located at the bottom left.

I'd also like to comment on the heat output of the laptop. It does get quite warm. I wouldn't say "hot", but resting my palms on the laptop in an air conditioned room left small sweat marks after a while. Bear in mind that the W7J, all things considered, is a high performance laptop for the size. I ended up underclocking the GPU, which helped a bit with the heat output and I'm hoping SpeedStep will take care of the CPU automatically. I think that most people that need the performance in a small package will be willing to make that trade off (besides, I'm guessing that the only truly "cool" laptops will be based on the LV processors).
