I recently purchased a W3V and I was wondering if there were any driver updates that I might need to pick up. I checked the asus website a few days ago and there were several there. I just didn't know if any where really needed or necessary.

Personally, there is no need to upgrade drivers unless your lappie is not performing correctly. If your happy with your laptop, and dont really really need a certain feature that is in an update, then dont upgrade. Just because its newer doesnt mean that its better, often un-necessary upgrades cause more problems then they solve, just take a read thru many of the posts regarding bios upgrades.

ps also check the versions you have already installed against those on the website, more often then not, you are probably running the latest drivers anyway.

The touchpad driver update at www.synaptics.com is good, makes the scroller work with Firefox.

What about the Asus Update program? Anyone think that's worth keeping? It didn't tell me about the Synaptic driver update...

I am having some trouble with my laptop when it hibernates. Once the screen turns off, I have to force it to shut down and then turn the laptop back on. It won't just come back on if I touch a key or the touchpad. Anybody know how to fix this?

There are already other threads about this problem. A lot of people have had this problem including me, all you need to do is upgrade to the lastest LAN driver from the ASUS site. Don't do a Windows Update to update it cause it won't work, use the one from the ASUS site.

I downloaded the lan update from the asus website, but I can't get it to install. Any instructions? Also, now I have started getting errors from my graphics card and I think I may need to update my graphics drivers. How do I go about doing that?

That's true...but I've found that it makes the touchpad on/off button STOP working after standby or hibernate.

Strange. I'm running Synaptics driver V 8.0.6 which I got a while back from the Synaptics site and it doesn't interfere with the touchpad on/off button. I presume that you are running the most recent version of ATK0100.

Nah I haven't updated to the latest ATK0100... when I used the latest synaptics drivers, the new ATK0100 driver hadn't come out yet.
Glad to see that it works now... but I'm too lazy to change it :p

Ah, I hadn't noticed that bug yet. I updated my ATK and can confirm that this fixes the the problem.

Yes. DriverHeaven.net has the latest Mobility Catalyst drivers. The latest ones are the 5.12. However, I have had issues with those and my X700. The 5.11 are stable, and actually a bit faster in 3DMark05 by about ~45 points.
