I was just wondering what settings people were using and the FPS they were getting in game.

I've got a similar laptop with the exception of the graphics card. It's a x1700
I can run Battlefield 2 at 1024x768, medium terrain, high geometry, both dynamic lighting disabled, shadows on medium, aa on 4, af on high, textures on high. I think that's it. Any other settings that I missed I probably run on medium as I only have 2 things set to high. Also check out www.tweakguides.com and check out their Battlefield 2 section. Follow their settings there for smooth gameplay.
Oh yeah, to display your frames type into console (~) "renderer.drawFps 1" it'll show the max and min fps at any given time, so obviously to figure out the average just add the min and max together and divide by 2.
Have fun
W3J and Battlefield 2
