Asus has posted a new BIOS 0702A for the W3A. The indicated changes are:

    BIOS Ver.0702A
    1. Remove bug resource conflict for IO port 62/66/400-41F
    2. Correct PC-Probe FAN speed
    3. Remove bug system may not be able to boot again if AC power removed without battery installed

I have installed this BIOS and the fan speeds reported by Asus Probe have changed from 1200 RPM to 2500 RPM (slow speed) and from 1600 RPM to 3400 RPM (high speed). Actual operating temperatures have not changed and I don't think the noise levels have changed either.

Are bios updates dangerous? I could just imagine killing my laptop accidentally

When I try to unzip the download, it says there are no files. When unzipping the old BIOS, there is no problem. Anybody else seeing the same thing when unzipping the new BIOS?

Well, I tried all the mirrors, and I'm still not able to unzip the file.

I hope Asus fixes this soon!

That .zip file is really a .rar file, openable with winrar:
    Code:
    %file W3A0702A.ZIP
    W3A0702A.ZIP: RAR archive data, v1d, os: Win32
    %
The fact that it isn't packaged right doesn't make me too confident that it is ready for prime time. (I tend to be extra conservative with BIOS software that can make my system into an expensive doorstop).
Anyone try this on a z63a?

FYI - Thanks to John, I got the unzipped BIOS and flashed the Z63A. It is working fine.

Notice anything non-cosmetic fixed in the new bios? Such as the issue with hotkeys not responding for ~15 seconds when more than 1 program is monitoring ACPI status?

I didn't notice this problem. I use Total Commander from http://www.ghisler.com/ and this opens up most compressed files. It also has a built-in file packer.
