    W3 vs. W5

    Been looking at the W3 since lots of messages about it and doesn't look so bad.

    Also, it has an X600 gfx card. how would this compare to the W5A's Intel 9000 gfx card? and how would the x600 compare to a desktop 64MB nVidiaGeForce440MX gfx card?

    out of these two, which one do u reckon is better?

    Dedicated cards will always out perform shared video.

    I'm not quite sure with that desktop card, but the x600 should be alot better.

    The w3v will be much much more powerful in terms of gaming.

    the W5 has a wireless receiver for the mouse.

    does the W3V has this too?

    another question:

    i have seen seen some sites saying the W3V has a 128MB x600 but some say its a 64MB?

    also i've seen some say the hardrive is 5200 when others say it is 4800 or watever? what is correct in australia?

    does the W3V come with a 2nd battery like the W5A?

    The W3 does come with a wireless logitech mouse as well as a case. It's harddrive spins at 5400rpms. Also in the states it does not come with a second battery, other countries I do not know. The W3 is an all around amazing notebook. About the video card. It has 64mb of dedicated video ram, and then takes the rest from system ram.

    Both units are spec'd the same all over the world, respectively.

    What I mean is that, the w3v in Brazil will have the same specs as the w3v in Hong Kong, etc.

    There are some places where you can 'customiz' it, but you loose the warranty from ASUS,but instead get the one from the dealer themselves. Some examples are Portable One and AGear

    Depends what you want to do with your notebook.

    If portability is what you are looking for, get W5A.

    If other performance demanding app running is required, get W3V as it has faster CPU & HDD and better video card.

    Otherwise the rest of the system's performace is about the same as both are built on the same chipset.

    As for the CPU, it's clocked faster but I don't think you will be able to notice the system boost much. You can only see the real differences in the bench marks or some hardcore video editing or ripping. Otherwise both CPUs are plenty fast. I would say faster HDD helps better in this category.

    W5A has the built in RF receiver but it only works with the Asus provided mouse or the exact same kind. It comes witht the "cordless mouse for notebook" and it will only work with this kind.

    Just to the conclusion, I got W5A b/c portablity as well as the performance is what I was looking for.
